Last month, we featured Gabriele Galimberti’s work in What's in Your Toy Box?. This month, we are featuring Peter Menzel’s Hungry Planet: What the World Eats as he documents what and how much thirty families around the world stack up in their grocery carts.

Twenty-four countries, thirty families – each and everyone from a different socioeconomic and cultural background. Menzel’s project illustrates the contrasts between the eating habits of families around the world and the mass consumption of processed foods in industrialized countries.

It’s amazing that the Revis family from North Carolina spend $340 USD on their weekly food supplies while the Ayme family of nine spend $30 USD on their total food costs.

As well, the pattern in processed foods dominating the groceries of industrialized families is frightening.

What’s on your grocery list? Most likely a bucketful of Lomography Films I’m guessing!
