Since I checked the results of my first developed roll from my Lubitel 166B, I’ve been wanting to share with others my experience. Let me take this opportunity to tell you of my favorite location to take photographs and my first time shooting there with the Lubitel 166B.
First, here’s a backstory on this camera:
- It was sold through Ebay from the Ukraine
- Came with an attractive price
- I fell in love just by looking at her
As soon as it arrived I was eager to see what kind of photos this camera takes, so I went to the beach to take advantage of the slight sunlight that was beginning to show in the Coast, Costa Daurada, concentrating on the Platja Larga beach. It’s a beach that encourages walking from end to end, and venturing out to other beaches along the path of rocks that separates them.
In these months of transition into springtime, the waves of trucks and caravans of tourists begin to arrive, coming from further north. They don’t want to miss a single ray of sunshine in our attractive coast, Costa Daurada. They come ready with their Bermuda shorts, reclining chairs, pots of sunscreen, visors, caps and a book to read while enjoying a little sunbathing.
It was in this situation that Julia and I, after work, found ourselves. Equipped with our chairs, a Tupperware of fresh pasta, boomerang, and our main star, the Lubitel 166B, we approached the day to take advantage of the sun.
Observed by the tourists (I suppose it’s because we were wearing long pants and jersey; there’s sun, but it’s still cold), we walked towards the sand in search of the tranquility offered by the sound of waves as they crashed along the shore (oh how bucolic!). After leaving the Tupperware cleaner than the day I bought it, I threw the boomerang around for a bit (another day I’ll take photos of it).
At this time, it’s perfect for play time since there are no children or people around, and the beach always looks better deserted.
When I got tired of retrieving the boomerang, each time further and further away (one should perfect the boomerang technique), I took lomographs of what the beach offers during this time: vans, almost deserted landscape, the smile of Julia, small boats awaiting good weather, empty bins…
Here, I’ll leave you with the photos of Playa Larga I got from my first developed roll with the Lubitel 166B.
