If you’ve ever been to Barcelona’s Parc de la Ciutadella, you might know why this could be considered a true Pinhole Playground. If you haven’t, here’s a sneak peek…
The Parc de la Ciutadella is located in the center of the city of Barcelona, it is a great spot to lay on the grass and soak up the sun. A very popular spot for picnicking for families and groups of friends, especially on the weekends. What I like the most about this park is how people gather to do things together — jog, walk, take yoga classes or even meet up for photowalks.
My favorite place in the park is a small lake right in the middle of the whole grassy green area. It’s so peaceful just sitting on a bench and watch people row the tiny boats around the lake and all sorts of ducks swim and look for food from onlooking people.
There’s also an amazing fountain (the day I took this photo, it had no water), there’s lots of statues in it and when you look at it from a distance, it’s a beautiful view to sit down and admire.
Having a Mediterranean climate in the city has its advantages. Inside the Parc de la Ciutadella, you’ll find all sorts of plants and flowers that make great subjects for your pinhole photos, since they seldom move, unless there’s a windy day.
There’s even a huge statue of an elephant which kids like to climb its trunk and take pictures. I took my chances against it…
Having big spaces really comes in handy when you’re having a go at pinhole photos, since you have an infinite depth of field, everything comes in focus, from the smallest thing closest to you, to the farthest one all the way at the back.
Just outside the park, you can find the Arc de Triomf which is a very pretty landmark in the city and was built in 1888 as the entry to Barcelona’s Universal Exposition. Nowadays, it’s full of people who walk by, skate or just sit around.
So now you know, if you’re ever in Barcelona and looking for a great spot to get you pinhole-modjo on, stroll by Parc de la Ciutadella and have loads of fun!
