Relax with Analogue Music from Vinyl Havens!

2013-04-20 2

Although we are surrounded by so many digital objects (including mp3 players, CD players, personal computers, and home theater systems), I confess that when I want to relax after a long day at work, I love to turn on my old turntable, which my mother purchased many years ago when I was still a little child!

After a long day at work, especially in a day of bad weather, I often like to relax listening good music. Now, I have found that listening to the warm tones from a vinyl record (often mixed with the characteristic noise due to the dust on the disks) is very relaxing, more than listening music from an hi-fi player with a digital source like a CD. Here my preferred recipe for relaxing with analogue music:

Step One: Buy a vinyl disk in a local stall or music shop. If you have one, you can skip this step.

Step Two: Open the turntable and connect it to an electric power source.

Step Three: Choose a series of good vinyl (I love vintage Italian music) and turn on your turntable.

Step Four: Take off your shoes and socks, change into your pajamas, and lie down on your bed.

Step Five: Close your eyes, lift your feet up, and dream of warm beaches and crystal clear seas, as you listen to the music!

It’s a simple recipe that always works!

In the three photos above you can see some details of my vintage turntable: it has three speeds (33, 45 and 78 RPM), a mono reproduction and it works with electronic tubes! In the photo below you can see a wonderful album (La Pulce d’Acqua) of the Italian singer Angelo Branduardi; inside, there is a delightful series of prints depicting the song themes!

Here another great album of Angelo Branduardi (Alla Fiera dell’Est) that I found in a stall in my city Como.

These two photos represent some vintage vinyl records bought by my mother many years ago:

Enjoy your analogue music!

@ejb I'm not an expert in turntables, this one was a very old and simple model (no stereo)
