Spring has sprung and that means only one thing for us… the last chance to get our shred on before the snow turns to water! So we escaped the city to head to the picturesque Austrian Alps for Snowbombing, the Mayrhofen-based festival that perfectly combines a week of snowboarding with partying.
The Austrian Alps. The most picturesque of places: mountain tops towering above and around you so that every way you look there’s a backdrop waiting to be snapped.
When winter arrives, the sleepy town of Mayrhofen, tucked away in an Austrian valley, welcomes many a seasonaire from all over the world for five months of snow, shred and partying (with a side of work). It’s a seasonaire’s paradise and a top resort for a ski break.
Renowned for it’s snow parks and cruisey mountainous area, Mayrhofen is the ultimate spot to head for spring shred, so it’s no wonder that the chaps at Snowbombing chose it as their home for the annual festival. The ‘Greatest Show on Snow’, Snowbombing invites revelers to party with a side of snowboarding or vice versa. It’s days on the mountains, nights by the bar. So we took the 2.5-hour transfer bus from Munich to go spectate and participate in the action and see what it was all about.
Partying aside, our days on the mountain inspired our camera clicking finger. So check out some of the fun we captured in Penken park using our LC-A on a day when the sun plus snow made for the perfect capturing combo!
Following their fun from behind the lens as UK snowboarders such as Rowan Biddiscombe, Faye Young and Seb Kern hit the park located in the valley over from Mayrhofen. It’s another hidden gem of a spot; cornered in by the mountains with a park to suit all abilities and a mountainous playground to cruise around on. Whilst we clicked on our camera, these chaps got creative on their boards.
Thanks to Snowbombing for inviting us along to check out the festival and get our spring shred on! We look forward to next year already…
