Oh, bring back the scorching days of the summer where the sky was a different shade of blue every day and the people are at one….
The Big Chill is held in Herefordshire in the UK. This beautiful deer park is hijacked every year in August to hold a beautiful festival of alternative, dance and chill-out music. The beauty of this festival is the merging of eclectic music and people, creating a peace loving and hippy-dippy feel, day or night.
From the dance tent on a sunny afternoon, to bison grass mojitos in the middle of a field, then David Byrne on the main stage, to tea and toast in grannies cafe. Every day a perfect day with beer and coconut water flowing…. Colour and happiness is the order of the day at The Big Chill.
Probably the most perfect thing about the Big Chill for me was being surrounded by like minded people. Chatting to a family at the bubble stand or relaxing on the grass having a drink with friendly folk who share some of their local cider with you.
As the sun sets and the night draws in, the atmosphere changes as the anticipation of the big bands starts to take hold. The whole festival awaits Orbital! People mooching around with woolen blankets wrapped around them to keep the cold at bay – Strangers sharing a hip flask of brandy…
Friendly friendly people – I hope I’ve done this amazing festival justice. Bring back the Summer!
