Lomography had the pleasure of teaming up with the American Red Cross to work on two beautiful LomoWalls. Last March, hundreds of kits with journals and our cameras were sent to people all over America who at one time or another had been helped by the American Red Cross. They were asked to share their stories. Made of these photographs and alongside their stories, these fantastic LomoWalls now reside in Washington DC’s Union Station.
The wall construction began last week when a box of blank LomoWall panels arrived at our headquarters here in New York City. For days, our team worked nonstop with the help of the lomographer and colombian artist antoniocastello , who designed and directed the wall production to beautifully arrange the photographs taken by those helped in some way by the American Red Cross to create a very unique wall with the Red Cross logo. In partnership with creative agency BBDO, the two Lomowalls will also be exhibited alongside story walls featuring Lomographs and inspiring handwritten stories just in time for American Red Cross Month!
The thousands of people who travel through Union Station each day, one of the most popular destinations in the U.S. capital, will have the pleasure of learning more about the experiences had by the folks in those photographs. Over the past 20 years, Lomography has displayed LomoWalls from London to Colonge, and now it’s our turn to share our very own handmade wall. Several days and over 3,000 images later, it is complete!
It has meant so much to us here at Lomography to be a part of this project. If you’d like to learn more about the stories of those helped by the American Red Cross take a look at their website here.
