Because that LomoHome is this week’s LomoKino LomoAmigo! And hey, it’s just time for us to know more about this man from France who admits his love for our glorious analogue moviemaker. With that, we also gossip about his plans as he has won our Big LomoKino Rumble giving him 500 EUR as budget for his next LomoKino film!

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?
I’m a director. I have directed short films, music videos, and well, Lomokino movies! I love cinema, rock music, telling funny stories, manipulating cameras, drinking red wine, eating cheese and awesome French food. I also like hamburgers! I’m the singer/guitarist of a band called Les Alpagas. I [also] like to keep myself busy.
Describe the LomoKino in five words.
Retro, fun, unique, mute, the best way to learn how to make a movie.
How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?
I loved shooting with the LomoKino. I instantly imagined a black and white expressionist movie, as “Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari," and I tried my best to get the right make up (thanks to my friend Julie Poulain), a cool lighting (thanks to my friend Raphaëlle Gosse-Gardet), and an exciting idea (thanks to my brain!) I used something like 12 rolls of Lomography Lady Grey. We had to use cinema lights which were very powerful ones. After the shooting, I had to scan my films myself in order to edit the movie, it took me a very long time, but I loved the result.
What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?
When I discovered Lomography, I wanted them so much to make a motion camera and told myself “If ever they make a camera like this, I’ll do my best to be THE Lomography Director." As I presented my first short movie in Cannes Film Festival, the team of Lomography France was present at the short film corner, with prototypes of the Lomokino. I took their business card and a few weeks after the festival I called them back. They gave me one of the prototypes, so I could make movies to present what this camera could do for the first presentation of the LomoKino.
As I said, I directed this movie “The Incredibble story of Dr. Lomotnik” and another movie, a remake of one of my shorts, “Lopulopu.”

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?
I met a singer I’m a big fan of, from the band “Dionysos” at the presentation of the LomoKino in Paris. As I am used to make LomoKino movies of my life sometimes, some people are very curious about this camera. I remember shooting a LomoKino movie from a boat in Greece and a guy came to me asking me how old the camera was. He was very surprised when I told him it was less than one year old!
If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?
I’d love to make a LomoKino movie with Audrey Tautou, Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu, and Jean Dujardin.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?
I just won the BIG LomoKino Rumble so yes, I’m planning to direct a big big big LomoKino movie, a blockbuster with very funny special effects (made on the shooting.) There’s gonna be a lot of very exciting things like UFOs, a superhero, and yes, it will be great!
Your advice to future LomoKino users.
Take time to imagine a story. Think about a character, and what could happen to him. Try to find an exciting landscape — if you don’t have, shoot in your street. Think about a beginning, a development, and an end. Please don’t use a music whith a girl singing with her guitar, everybody does it now and I don’t know why! You’re not gonna make an ad for an bank so be unique!
