But then, I don’t think I’m really sorry at all, because these are actually interesting photos of couples young and in love who are from a totally different era. You must have seen some passionate and poignant kisses caught on film by Alfred Eisenstaedt from the 1940s very recently. If you liked the classic scenes of romance, I bring you some more of them taken from the awesome archive of LIFE. Today’s post-valentine offering shows couples who were young and in love during the 1930’s and 1940’s.

It’s not just from the way they dressed or the way they did their hair, but something else about these photos sets lovers from decades past apart from couples of the present generation.
