When Berlin photographer JoeStar bought his Holga three years ago he didn’t know what to do with it in the first place. After a while he learned to love his plastic camera and nowadays he is only shooting with her. Some of his best shots from the series ‘Hot Head East’ are exhibited at the Lomography Gallery Store Berlin.
“Magnum photographer David Hurn once said: “The nature of things can be found through experience.”
Learning to love mistakes, focusing on the essential is giving photography its easiness and somehow poetry. The possibilities to understand what you are actually doing, shooting and communicating in a different way. If you are on the road with your Holga people often don’t perceive you as photographer, this gives you a kind of liberty in shooting." (JoeStar)
Some of Joes photographs are exhibited at the Lomography Gallery Store Berlin until end of February.
All pictures are taken with his Holga 120 F in 6×6 format. He used Kodak Portra 160 NC film, scanned the negatives and converted the colours in Photoshop into BW Phantone. The canvas material is treated with a special UV emulsion.
More information about Jörg Stadler aka JoeStar and of course more of his pictures cand be found on his website.
