Come and take a sip of coffee and enjoy some classic Vienese menu here!
Were you to walk from Heldenplatz (“Hero Square”) to Volksgarten, the small but fine “Meierei” lies around 50 meters to the right: a small charming coffeehouse with a big pebble stone garden and a superbly brief classic Viennese menu. Just behind it lies a wonderful, always well-kept and clean sandbox.
Right by the box is a water hydrant with magnificent Viennese spring water (the best tap-water in the world!). Just close by: the Theseus temple – a roman style adapted temple with a small show space with sporadic, usually awful, exhibitions. Towards Ringstraße is the rose garden with about 100 different and unbelievably beautiful of roses types. Right behind the coffee house, the Austrian federal chancellor and the Austrian president reside. In short: the most beautiful park of Vienna, the most exquisite audience of Vienna, the most beautiful summer coffee house of Vienna, the highest density of politicians in Vienna, and, above all: if you have a kid and want to sit back for a read, then go right over to the sandbox, turn on the water hydrant (only in midsummer!) and you will enjoy peace and quiet for many hours on end except for the occasional happy chortle. And within a few hours, your child will have familiarised itself with the expression “what is your name”, “cute”, “give me!”, and “idiot” in five new languages.
