Surreal Recreations of Dream by Ronen Goldman

“Do you remember what have you dreamed about?” If you could just remember what has happened in your dream, it may become the interesting element for your photographs!

Most people are only capable of remembering the scenario of the dream, right before the moment he/she wakes up, but it just simply slips out of our mind within seconds. We can only tell whether it is a sweet dream or a nightmare. But there are a number of them, they possess the memory specializing in recording their dreams, like a video camera that captures the backgrounds, the people, the things, the scenarios or even the ‘genre’ or ‘performance’. (Sorry, am I just doing a movie review?)

It is different with the novelists which express dreams or scenarios in words, Israeli photographer Ronen Goldman utilizes his profession to creatively transform his dreams into a series of surreal photographs, in his album named Surrealistic Pillow

In the past six years, he has been bringing his dreams into reality by recreating them into photographs. Every photograph requires a number of weeks, or even months to be completed, which includes the preparation job, dream recording, planning, and the post-production.

Are they fragments of memories or prophecies, the opposite or a parallel world? Goldman has no explanations for his recreations. What he did was reproduce whatever had appeared in his dream, and allow the wild imaginative run inside the admirers’ mind. No one could actually criticize its photographs as unrealistic or uncommon, as these are actually his dream. No one has been in the dream except Mr. Goldman himself.
