A Match Made in Heaven: Horizon Kompakt and T64

2013-02-07 6

Just recently, I have discovered the wonders of 35mm T64 Tungsten. It provides beautiful photos with vibrant yellow, orange, red, pink, and purple hues. When I popped it in (probably) my favorite camera, the Horizon Kompakt, it was like this camera and film were soul mates.

I live in a part of the world were travel is a necessity. My necessity is having a stock of film and a couple of different camera’s when I travel. Going to Thailand was no exception. The first day out on the beach I tried out my first expired film, the 35mm T64 Tungsten in the Horizon Kompakt. Have a look at some of my favorites (which were hard to pick out) from the roll:

I think the ideal situation to shoot these two together is when you have a really nice landscape in front of you. You get the wide angle of the Horizon Kompakt, which in itself makes any photo look great. Paired with this film, you get interesting and vibrant colors that make any landscape 10x more interesting.

Some of you may run into a dilemma: you don’t have the camera OR the film. Have no fear, my friends. Here in Singapore, you can purchase this film at a small store in Sunshine Plaza called 36. Check the place out, it is great. Don’t live in Singapore? Just search online! You either have a store that may supply the film or you can order it online — trust me it’s worth it. Don’t have the Horizon Kompakt? Buy it from the Online Store! Even if you don’t, I totally recommend pairing the T64 with another camera and find a new perfect pair. Here are some of my shots with it in the LC-A+:

Lomo on friends, lomo on.
