If you want a traditional Viennese coffeehouse with home-baked cakes waiting for you in the display-case, Cafe Rudigerhof is the place to be.
Rudigerhof (you find it between U4 Kettenbruckengasse and Pilgramgasse) is a real traditional Viennese coffeehouse with home-baked cakes waiting for you in the display-case, a variety of newspapers and magazines and good coffee, of course. The ladies playing bridge there seem nearly as old as the house which was built in 1902. As many other houses along the Wienzeile, it’s a beautifully preserved Jugendstil-house with a superb garden and some old trees. It is a nice and mostly quiet place in the middle of the city.
location: hamburgerstrasse 20, 1050 vienna | how to get there: metro u4 to kettenbruckengasse | opening hours: daily 9 am – 2 am
