It’s been a while! This month’s rendition is a rather different style compared to what I normally do, but I’ve found that sketching with pencils is much easier for me than other mediums. Check out the article to see my imitation of @farbenmann's photo!
For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been quite backed up on work because of college applications and scholarship nonsense (haha). As I am planning to major in photography, I was required to submit photos and some hand drawn artwork for my portfolios. One of my schools asked for realistic drawings. Hmmm…
To kill two birds with one stone, I decided I would combine this task with my article by choosing one of your photos for my artwork! Recently, I’ve been really into drawing/painting/photographing all things people. So, I made my way through the tags that you have all so generously labeled your photos with. I stumbled upon a breath-taking set of black and white photos by farbenmann) of a nude model in different poses. I knew, once I saw them, that I would definitely be doing one of the photos from this set. After clicking through the album multiple times, I decided on this one:
I whipped out my box of pencils and began sketching away…
The shadows and lights in the photograph were smooth, making the shading process quite easy after all of the outlines were set in place. About half an hour of sketching later, I came up with this
