2013 Analogue Bucket List: Back to Basics

2013-01-30 1

I am excited to share my 2013 Analogue Bucket List, as I am new to Lomography and, through Lomography, am making a return to film for the first time in about 15 years. I am excited to explore lo-fi, multiple exposures, and variances in film.

So, I will begin by saying that this bucket list will be different from many others in that being new to Lomography, I have so many things to cross off that list — many of which are very basic.

But, how did I get here? Years ago, I shot with a Minolta (I think it was an X-370), as I was starting to really like photography. I sold that somewhere around 1998. Now, I shoot primarily with a Canon DSLR and a Leica X2. About three weeks ago, I saw the Kickstarter campaign for the Smartphone Film Scanner. I thought it would be really cool to be able to scan my old negatives, so I backed the project at the LC-A+ level.

But, I couldn’t wait until March to start shooting.

Bucket List Item #1: Start shooting immediately.

So, I bought, in one auction, a Diana Mini and a Diana F+ with some accessories. I need some 120 film, but the auction included some 35mm film so I began shooting with the Mini, although I am still on the first roll. I can’t wait to develop and upload.

Bucket List Item #2: Learn to use a rangefinder.

Loved the attic sale and bought the Fed 1 at 40% off. I have some expired B&W film (Kodak 400) I can’t wait to put in it once it comes!

Bucket List Item #3: Find tons of photos on lomography.com that I like.

And then like them. Like this one:

Bucket List Item #4: Bring Cleveland, Ohio to the Lomography scene.

I love my city and am looking forward to having it seen on the Lomography site. Here is a great multiple exposure shot that I saw on the site of the city:

Bucket List Item #5: Learn to use a Splitzer.

It’s on order and I am excited!!

Bucket List Item #6: Make some new friends and share ideas.

I ask that you keep an eye out for my first rolls of film and let me know what you think. I am very excited to go back to the analogue basics in 2013 and am looking to make some friends, from all over, in the process.

Wishing everyone a great 2013!
