I reviewed my resolutions for last year and of the 5 in the list, I only got to fulfill only 2 of them. This year, I want the central theme to be “New Beginnings.” I wish to have a new fire to rekindle my passion of collecting and shooting with film cameras.
1. Rediscover the 120 film format
I have a few TLRs in my collection, but I rarely use them. I complain about the size and its bulkiness, but I always love the results I get. I recently acquired a few more rolls of 120 films and now it’s time to start shooting.
2. Learn to love the Compact Rangefinders
I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with rangefinders. I have a couple rangefinders in my collection but after a test roll, I prefed SLRs over them. Recently, I found a broken Konica C35 FD with a few missing parts for a cheap price. I had 2 technicians repair them and after about 2 months I got to shoot a test roll. I learned to appreciate it, a now I got 2 more compact rangefinders. I found a size that works for me.
3. Be proactive
I want this year to be more productive. I want to take more pictures. I want to be able to take a camera with me all the time. I want to take a more proactive view on life. So, instead of waiting for opportunities to shoot a roll, I will try to produce beautiful and meaningful pictures through normal everyday life.
I want to keep this year’s resolutions simple and doable. I hope I can contribute more to our community of film lovers!
