The locals in Hong Kong work hard and party hard. Watch how the local financial district transforms into Hong Kong’s ultimate nightlife hotspot.
On Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong’s financial district and shopping hub is in Central. Central is surrounded by numerous luxury boutiques and international financial centres. The district is widely known as the home of Lan Kwai Fong, the heart of Hong Kong nightlife.
During the day, it’s swarming with suits and briefcases. At night, the financial hub transforms into Hong Kong’s ultimate nightlife hotspot. The district is overflowing with bars, karaoke lounges and exclusive clubs. Take a look as night takes over Hong Kong and the city evolves into a high-energy party district.
What happens to the locals who aren’t into the party scene? Well, Hong Kong is sure to have something for everyone. For those too busy to shop during the day, they can shop at the local night markets. A local favourite is Temple Street Market, or “Miu Gai” at Yau Ma Tei. It’s also often referred to as “Men’s Street”. They offer everything you can imagine – from food to clothes. The best part is that it’s known for its rock-bottom prices.
Although Men’s Street isn’t restricted to males, women have their own name-sake night market called “Ladies’ Market”. It’s located on Tung Choi Street in Mong Kok. Like its counterpart, it’s not just for women as the name suggests. However it features a larger collection of purses, bags, baby clothes and women’s apparel.
For kids, there’s Goldfish Street or Goldfish Market which is located at the north end of Tung Choi Street. The street features many shops selling goldfish and aquariums and is a fun destination for families and children of all ages.
Just walking around the city you’ll notice that the entire landscape transforms once the sun goes down. The city seems to reveal a different side and renew itself in preparation for morning. The soaring skyscrapers become twinkling towers that shimmer along the Victoria Harbour.
Don’t believe me? See for yourself! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday night the city hosts a dazzling light show called “ A Symphony of Lights”. It’s been named the “World’s Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show” by Guinness World Records. Stop by the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier or the Golden Bauhinia Square Promenade to experience the stunning light show alongside many others!
