For an undeniable taste of Vienna’s local flavor, head down to the Voodoo Bar!
Tucked into a thin section of Siebensterngasse, the Cafe Voodoo is an intimate watering hole that defines the term local flavour. For foreign visitors unfamiliar with Vienna’s extensive dive-bar culture, this spot is a good introduction to Vienna’s unique brand of chintzy decoration, a steady soundtrack of 1970s hard rock and soft ballads, hard wood tables designed for hard core drinking, really excellent beer, and fairly awful cocktails. A great place to start out or finish up your evening.
location: siebensterngasse 35, 1070 vienna | opening hours: mon, sat 7 pm – 2 am |how to get there: metro u3 to neubaugasse
On the fourth day of Residency Week in Vienna, Lomography organized a day trip to Bratislava for us. The capital of Slovakia is only an hour away from Vienna by train so the trip turned out to be a wonderful idea. We were supposed to meet on the main railway station Hauptbahnhof.
I have come back after a week of my TEN AND ONE Artistic Residency at Lomography HQ in Vienna with my head full of ideas and projects that I would like to start and try out. By the end of the week I have a book (almost) full of tips, anecdotes and pure Lomographic love.
We've finally nailed down the basic colors from primary to secondary; now it's time to study other colors, hybrids, and palettes that make this world more complex and non-binary. Sometimes, we make up our own worlds as we get lost in our heads. Here's a palette for the daydreamers.
The TEN AND ONE Residency Week has been very intense and full of activities. From 11 to 18 November, we did LomoWalks around Vienna, guided visits to museums and magazine editorial office, a workshop, a trip to Bratislava, worked on our LomoWall and of course LomoLunch and LomoDinner. We had the opportunity to attend a Cyanotype Workshop at Lomography Head Quarter held by Michael Wuermer, a young and nice photographer and printer.
The Off the Grid Awards served as an invitation to step back from the glowing screen—a welcome break to reconnect to the roots of nature, taste the salty air, feel the rocky terrain, and get in touch with wild life. Meet our winners!
We are excited to introduce the winner of our very first contest for Indian community, Lomotyohar, Isha Raina. She captured beautiful festive sights of Indian tradition and festivals, giving us a taste of cultural experience.
