Give LomoLove This Holiday Season: Lomographs Are Perfect Holiday Gifts

Choosing gifts for loved ones come Christmas season can be stressful. But I chose to be stress-free this recently concluded Yuletide season by printing 6 sets of 21 portraits of my friends in 4R size, packed in color paper bags as my gift to each one of them.

Christmas is a special time to celebrate life with the people closest to your heart. Like the Three Wise Men who came to the manger bearing gifts to the newborn Jesus, the spirit of gift-giving is an important aspect of this most celebrated ritual in predominantly Christian Philippines.

I recently had a luncheon-reunion in an Italian restaurant called Bellini’s in Cubao X, with my artist-friends whom I have been working with for the last five years. Over two thin-crusted pizzas, a huge platter of assorted pasta dishes cooked al dente and lots of chats to update ourselves with each other’s life we celebrated our small Christmas party.

To cap the reunion, each of us brought out of our bags gifts for exchange. Got a bottle of red wine, a pack of native cocoa, a bag of jasmine tea and two pillow cases from my generous friends. In return, I gifted each of them a set of twenty-one prints of lomo portraits I took in the course of our working together in several projects. They were all amused with my humble gifts — a set of reminders of how wonderful each person has been all these years.

Check out these lomographs and meet my lovely friends:
