How to Make a Mini-Movie with the Lomo 135M Camera

2012-12-26 6

Some weeks ago I bought a Lomo 135M from the Lomography Online Shop. This is a great camera with a very sharp lens, excellent to take up to 8 consecutive photos in few seconds. Great for action and sports reportage, and a valid camera to create minimovies.

Some weeks ago, I bought an excellent Lomo 135M at the Lomography Online Shop. I often take photos of sports events, so this camera, which allows you to have a full control of times and apertures, is an excellent alternative to my Supersampler and Actionsampler. In fact, this camera has a spring cocking system that allows you to take up to 8 consecutive photos in 8 different frames on a 135mm film. The lens is an excellent Industar 73 (40mm/f2,8) made of Russian glass. The Tessar scheme of the lens (4 lenses in 3 groups) allows you to obtain very sharp and well contrasted images. Here you can see an example:

Here you can find a quick tipster to make a minimovie from this camera. First of all, you need at least three or four images taken on an interval of few seconds:

Using a photo editor software (I used Gimp), you must make a collage like an Actionsampler (or a Supersampler) image:

Then, after you have uploaded the image in your Lomography album, you can create a minimovie as usual; here you can see the result!

The zone focusing, and the frames inside the viewfinder allow you to have sharp images reducing parallax error. Here another photo with its minimovie.

The camera has a wide range of shutter times, from 1/15 to 1/250s and an aperture range from F 2,8 to F22, so you can always choose the correct exposure.

The 135 BC and 135M are almost identical: the differences between the two models are negligible (the 135M has some extra indications on the lens, to simplify the use for the beginners). Both cameras have the same lens, the same body and the same viewfinder. Both are great cameras!

Have fun with your Lomo 135M
