Keeping Track of your Lomography Exploits -- A Shooting Journal

A simple way to keep track of your Lomo Life

I try to be an avid Lomographer. In the past week I shot 14 rolls of film at different locations, using several cameras and a wide range of film. I also have a busy work and family life. Sometimes I can only get to the developer once every other week, or I have started to mail away my Xpro and slide for cheaper processing and that takes about two weeks to return. I started to realize that I was loosing track of what and how I shot what roll and the conditions when I tried to fill out the data on Lomo Lab. I came up with a simple solution I would like to share.

It is my film journal:

When I get home from taking pictures, I take all my film and log some simple things about what I did with each roll. I started with some of the lab metadata basics: Date, Camera, Film, Location, Time of day I did most of my shoots.

I also left myself a notes line. This came in handy to remember if I Xpro’d or used a special filter and when the film returned, I could make notes on things like did my experiment work? For example, the first time I used Lomo Redscale 100 in my LC-A+

You can also be creative and decorate it, but I just put labels of fun film on it.

It had another benefit for me. I could look back at anytime to see the last time I used a certain camera. With over 30 cameras in my cache, I like to make sure they all get used once in a while. It also let me look back if I had trouble using a film as Xpro or if I tried using a blue filter with a certain B&W film.

It a simple thing that really helps me a lot.
