Outrageous Japanese band honoured the Lomography Gallery Store London with an improvised gig outside the store!
When the van pulled up and i realised how much music equipment was going to be set up on our little street i got nervous. The set up however added to the tension that built up on Newburgh Street while ASAKUSAJINTA were preparing for yet another improvised street gig. All the local shop keepers peaked out to look, the neighbourhood security guys got suspicious and the street cleaner didn’t seem to give a crap.
Finally they tuned up and played. We prepared for rain but the sun came out! Everyone stopped, listened, clapped, smiled and in true British style wondered what the hell was going on! But less talk and more watch:
Iraina and Sam are better known as The Smoking Guns DJ's. They have a regular radio show on Soho Radio, just round the corner from the Lomography Soho Store. We lent them the Lomo'Instant Automat and they documented their trip to sunny LA, just as the rains came down here in the UK.
Hackney based band Flyte is one of those bands that you struggle to pigeonhole, treading the line of a prog band with a melange of beautiful '80s synth sounds. We gave them a Lomo LC-A+ to play around with and had a little chat about their band.
When LomoAmigo Ruby June came to us with an inspiring project which would allow some of her youngest friends to create a photo-a-day with the Lomo'Instant Wide, we couldn't resist this glimpse into playful creativity. Prepare to have your heart warmed!
UK four piece band The Big Moon are bursting with an infectious enthusiasm. They released their debut album 'Love In The 4th Dimension' this year and are currently touring around Europe. We sent them an LC-A+ to document their trip to the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin.
On July 20, Lomography Gallery Store NYC will be hosting "Seeing in Monochrome", an exhibition featuring work made with the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens by NYC editorial photographers. In this article, we're learning more about the featured artists and getting a sneak preview of their work!
Tigercub is a 3-piece noise-pop band from Brighton. They took the Lomo'Instant Automat on tour with them and have been giving away their instant shots to their fans. They talked to us about the project and shared some of their photos from the tour.
We had an epic Film Photography Day celebration this year at the Lomography Gallery Store NYC. Our friends at Sacred Tattoo NYC were kind enough to transform the gallery into a tattoo shop so Lomographers could show their analog pride forever and ever with a free camera tattoo!
Lomography Gallery Store Soho hosted a new exhibition of analogue photographs by Charlie Phillips entitled 'London is the Place for Me'. We also held a Meet the Artist evening, inviting questions from the attendees to gain a better understanding and hear the back stories behind the work on display.
Young and upcoming Turkish Jazz band Geneva Flava took the La Sardina for a fun spin. From concerts to everyday moments, they captured their daily life. We had a nice chat with them about music and life.
Sometimes, you can't help but wish for the days to snow forever. The winter is when all life forms retreat to their homes and become recluses, awarding themselves with the much-needed rest they deserve after eleven months of work-and-play. This Monday Moodboard is a glimpse of the hibernating days.
Cat's Eyes are an alternative pop duo formed of vocalist Faris Badwan, known for his work with English indie rock band the Horrors, and Italian-Canadian soprano, composer and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. We gave them a La Sardina to shoot with whilst on their writing trip in Iceland.
Are you a young photographer or a student of photography? In celebration of Youth Art Month, we invite you to share your photographs for the chance to win an exhibition at the Lomography Gallery Store in New York City, in the heart of historic Greenwich Village.
