Capturing Autumn’s Natural Colours

What do you like to see when you’re browsing through Autumn photos? Is it all about the natural colours or do we need some special glow?

Depending on which image you want to achieve is everything about the environment, light and film. The next fellow Lomographers manage to get really nice results with just small tricks.

If you want to capture the real colours just go for a negative film, this way you’ll get the beauty through yellow, orange and red. You’ll keep it faithful to nature.

Blue Sky

I think this one must be the biggest trick. Actually, for me, this is the biggest trick for every outside photo. I just love the light of a great blue sky, the way that it reflects on the rest of the colours and gives interesting shadows. Well, regarding the blue sky, it’s all about happiness and loving life, but that’s me. The contrast of the orange colours and the blue, results just perfect. Beautiful as nature itself.

Red Scale

This film can be an option as well. It will emphasize the autumn colours and give them a certain magic. Every landscape is converted into a single element. You can also use this film if you want to fake some autumn photos.

Other Colours

And if you want to play a little bit, just mess up autumn colours. Give them a green, pink or even purple tone and you’ll have a lot of fun. Just choose a slide film and expect the unexpected.

No Sun

I went for an Autumn shot session in a day with no sun, the sky wasn’t blue. I though maybe it would be nice to capture the leaves real colours, with a lomography CN 400, but instead of that, the results came out very gray and dark. I don’t like the essence of it because it doesn’t reflect the real beauty of this season.

Some lovely photos, I love Autumn. Recently I also took some photos of trees on a dull day, I'm worried they will also turn out dull and grey. I used Lomo Sunset Strip film (because the sun was out when I left home!) and now I can't decide whether to Xpro or not. Ha ha.
    Great article.
