Hey all you Lomo-ites out there. I have found the best, most readily available film for low light. Presenting LOMO 800 Color Negative film. Do not fear the night any longer.
We have all been there. You take your camera to an event only to find that your 400 speed film (that says on the label that it is great for low light) is whoa-fully too slow. What is a person to do? You could get a flash but what if your subject is far away? You’re stuck…
Or are you? Hooray for LOMO 800CN. Now your low light or indoor shots can go from this:
I never had thought about just how much of a difference 400 and 800 were. I always thought it was just the next step up but I soon realized that on my Minolta X-370 at wide open f1.7, 400 speed film would give me 15-30 shutter speed while the 800 gave me 125 in the same light.
I could even get fairly decent action shots with only the existing light. I am not one to use a big bulky flash so I always just go with what I got and the LOMO 800CN has been a life-saver for me. I take it every time I know that I am going to be inside, like a sporting event.
I was even surprised to see that the film came out just as sharp as any of my other films that I use regularly.
For the Lomographer who doesn’t shy away from the dark, this is the film for you. But it also works just as well in daytime situations too. It is an all around great film.
