Aside from making Lomography a hobby in her life, it has also served as a balance in the many things she juggles outside and inside our Community.

Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I am Ana, a Spanish girl who lives in Germany. I work as a software engineer, the whole day surrounded by computers. This is maybe why I love analogue photography, bringing equilibrium in my life.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

I am a Lomographer since 2008. My sister gave me my first analogue camera, a Diana F+ El Toro, as a present for Christmas (thank you, girl!)

Since then, a La Sardina, a LomoKino and a gorgeous Zorki 1 have joined my collection of analogue cameras.

Lomographs by Ana shot with a Diana F+.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Surprising, easy, funny black box!

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

Movement is the best friend of the Lomokino. The best movies I have made are the ones filmed where the focused point is not really far away from the camera and with lots of movement. I always try to get my friends to move and goof around while I am filming. Those are the movies I love the most. Develop an idea, create a choreography, and film it. And this should be a 5 minutes process!

Ana’s LomoKino movie, also a personal favorite entitled “Katrin Rennt.”

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

The first time I saw it in the Lomography Newsletter I exactly knew which camera would be my next one. I love movies, so what could be better than make them myself.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

I wanted to film a movie with my family, passing across a door. Almost 20 people walking. We had practiced it a couple of times, they were a little bit bugged….After the scene was done I realized that the film roll was not correctly mounted in the camera! I told them and they started laughing at me really, really loud. Of course they did not want to repeat the whole exercise again, so the movie does not exist.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

The performance of “Wake Up” by the Arcade Fire at Coachella 2011, with all those light balloons falling from the sky and floating over the crowd.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie(s) you love the most.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

I would like to shoot a movie with low light conditions.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

  • Always take the loaded LomoKino with you.
  • Be spontaneous!
  • Do not hesitate to ask people to collaborate in your movies. My experience is, they are pleased to do it.
  • Use different films to get different effects.
  • It is not cheap, but a negative scanner is a very good investment for every Lomographer.

Here are more LomoKino movies from Ana. Enjoy!

Do you have something to say about your LomoKino experience? Then drop me a line at mayee.gonzales@lomography.com and you might be our next LomoKino LomoAmigo!
