Like Robert Rauschenberg, Singapore-based artist Bradley Foisset sees beauty in the everyday, embracing objects that others would consider trash by weaving them into his art. Bradley’s La Sardina DIY revives the spirit of the late 1980s – when he first stumbled into a dark room and ‘developed’ a fascination with the photographic process.
Currently in the final year of his Bachelor’s degree In Fine Arts Painting at LASALLE College of the Arts, Bradley was most recently a Practice Award recipient of The Winston Oh Travel Award 2012, where he got to travel to Vietnam and make new work in response to his stay there.
HIS LA SARDINA DIY
Bradley collaged his La Sardina DIY with freshly printed film juxtaposed against old found photographs and papers, on which the ink has faded, as well as old upholstery taken from sitting chairs and couches – an ode to nostalgia and his growing up in a New York industrial factory town.
