During 4 years of life I dreamed about Odessa! The city about which so much has been written and so much sung. City-Tale, City-dream! This year, I spent a week at this marvelous place – strolling through the streets of the heavenly beauty, bathed in the sea, dancing and enjoying life.
In Ukraine, we sailed on ferry and then rode the bus. From Russia’s path took a whole day – tired but satisfied in Odessa, we were early in the morning. And they went ahead and no longer able to stop!
The city is situated on the Black sea north-western seashore on the trading routes from the Central and Northern Europe to the Close East and Asia crossing. Since Odessa has got a lot of educational establishments, theaters, museums, libraries and other cultural and educational profile .establishments, the city is known all over the world and is considered to be both the economical and the cultural center of Ukraine.
.In Odessa is famous Potemkin staircase, which has now 192 steps. Serene Highness Prince Mikhail Semenovich Vorontsov, gave a ladder that cost him 800 thousand rubles, his wife Elizabeth Ksaverevne. In Soviet times, the ladder was renamed to commemorate the uprising on the battleship Potemkin in 1905 (before the revolution known as Giant (other sources – Richelieu, since its inception is a monument to Duke de Richelieu). The construction of this truly gigantic ladder started in 1837 and completed in 1841.
Climbing up the Potemkin stairs, you can get on Primorsky Boulevard. It is clearly visible view port. Along the entire stretch of the boulevard beautiful architectural ensembles, but here, near one of the most beautiful buildings in Odessa City Council, stands a monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. But the city’s main treasure is its inhabitants. They have always been known for their business astuteness, initiative and tolerance. Odessa is the only city in Ukraine which has so many nations living in it and having really great relationships with each other. From their very childhood, the Odessites are being brought up in the atmosphere of hospitality, warm-heartiness and wicked humor, that’s why no feuds have ever happened and will ever happen here.
