USCitySlicker clownshoes: Thank You, Neil Gaiman

I had to think when was the last time I read a book that wasn’t a technical manual, off a computer screen, or a road sign. So I want to thank one of my favorite authors: Neil Gaiman.

Early on, some of Neil Gaiman’s work was brought to my attention by a comic book collector. I was really impressed with the worlds and ideas in “The Books of Magic” series. It sucked me into a world of fantasy, parallel universes, and secrets.

There weren’t any book stores in my town or even for miles around; plus at the time buying things online wasn’t popular yet. So when my mother would take me up to a book store in Miami I’d buy whatever books I could. I read them all Good Omens to American Gods and beyond. His books are always a great adventure; perfect for those who think they are stuck in the same place and doing the same things for the rest of their lives under the assumption that everything is just normal.

These works are a great source of inspiration for a surrealistic perspective. Maybe my life isn’t as exciting as his books; but dreams can be just as real.

These photos are great! I'm a big Gaiman fan too (American Gods is my favorite), I'm nearing the end of the Sandman series and I can see how you've used his work to inspire your photography. Great cityslicker piece!

The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Mr. Punch it's my favourite Gaiman book. Besides the graphic work of Dave McKean it's truly inspiring.
