The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus

Some of you enjoy rock and roll music and some of you enjoy circus performances. But have you ever seen the two combined? If you’re a fan of the Rolling Stones, you might have heard about The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus. If you haven’t, read on!

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is a film released in 1996. It shows two concerts on a circus stage and included various “acts”, including The Who, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, and Jethro Tull. Other artists, such as John Lennon and his fiancee Yoko Ono, Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell and Keith Richards are also part of the film.

The project was conceived and cancelled by Mick Jagger himself. He was disappointed with his own and the band’s performance, and didn’t want the public to see it. Everyone thought the project’s footage was lost, but it was found again in 1989. If you’ve seen The Kids Are Alright (1979) documentary, you might remember seeing a footage of The Who. After restoring the film, it was finally released on CD and video in 1996.

In 2004, the project was finally released in a remastered DVD with its audio remixed into Dolby Surround. If you you’re a fan of The Rolling Stoned or passionate about the circus, you have to check out this film. It will get your groove on for sure!

You know what else will get your circus mojo going? The Lomography booth at photokina 2012! There will be a wide range of cameras to rock and roll with as well as a number of Lomography circus events. You will never see such a spectacle anywhere else!
