After being awarded ‘Best Independent Cinema’ at the 2012 Flicks.co.nz People’s Choice Awards, Bridgeway Cinema has recently received another award as the Best Overall New Zealand Cinema. Check out the details after the jump!
Bridgeway Cinemas is a vibrant arthouse cinema located in Northcote Point, Auckland. If you’ve been here, you know that this place offers a wide range of arthouse films as well as upmarket commercial releases. They also hold regular film events and festivals.
The Australian Independent Distributors’ Association Incorporated (“AIDA”) recognized Bridgeway Cinema’s passion for film and voted this arthouse cinema as the Best Overall New Zealand Cinema. The awarding ceremony took place at the Australian Movie Convention on the Gold Coast, where cinemas from all over Australia and New Zealand come together to celebrate their achievements and share their success stories.
Kelly Rogers, co-owner of Bridgeway Cinema, accepted the award presented by Bindy Irwin, daughter of the late crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, and Phil the python. The award was given to Bridgeway Cinema upon evaluating a combination of terms, including its revenue, commitment to industry, public service, best marketing, best management and allround good guys.
AIDA is a not-for-profit association representing independent film distributors in Australia, being film distributors who are not owned or controlled by a major Australian film exhibitor or a major U.S. film studio or a non-Australian person.
