London 2012 is not yet over! From August 29 to September 9, 2012 there’s still the Paralympic Games! Here you can see some photos of a public demonstration in Como. Stay tuned!
The Paralympic Games is a multi-sport event where athletes with disabilities compete; there are athletes with mobility problems, amputations, paraplegic, tetraplegic and also with cerebral diseases. This year the games are hosted by the Municipality of London from August 29 to September 9. The Paralympic Games is governed by an International Committee.
Here you can see a series of photos of a public demonstration in Como. In the first two photos you can see a girl who is a tennis instructor playing with a paraplegic athlete.
The lake of Como is famous for its circle “Canottieri Lario”, where many Olympic and World Champion athletes were born, so a tribute to rowing is inevitable! Again, a paraplegic sportsman offers a free demo of this timeless sport! And the modern technology allows him to also have fun with scuba diving!
There were some tennis table demos:
Some matches of wheelchairs basket:
Again basket, for cerebral disability athletes. The International Committee defines the Cerebral Palsy category as: Athletes with non-progressive brain damage, for example cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke or similar disabilities affecting muscle control, balance or coordination.
There was also a beautiful piece of dance performed by a sportsman with a mobility problem:
Don’t miss the continuation of the London 2012 games!
