Some weeks ago, there were an important international competition in Cantù, 5km from my city, Como. A great event called “Trofeo Città di Cantù”, with excellent roller skaters. Enjoy these shots taken with my new Supersampler camera!
The funny Supersampler, is a great camera to photograph sports events with! My first roll was used to take some shots of an international competition in Italy, with very interesting results.
You can use the camera both in horizontal or vertical mode, and you can immortalize the young athletes while they are passing in front of you. For a fast speed sport as in this case, this camera is capable of excellent results!
Italy is a nation that has a long tradition in roller skating, especially in road or track races. These pictures were taken during the road race at the sports centre in Cantù, where there is a ring of about 400 meters long in asphalt.
The skating style has changed a lot over the past 30 years, I remember that in the late 70’s, there were in Como, the World Championships and the athletes were using skates with wheels coupled, while now the athletes only use the faster in-line skates.
This event was a great feast, in a climate of friendship for all!
All these photos were taken with a Kodak Ultramax 400 film roll, a contrasted film good in a day with some clouds and risk of thunderstorm…the brilliant color of the film compensates for the slight underexposure due to the insufficient solar light.
Enjoy your Supersampler!
