LC-Wide: A Wide-Angled Wonder

2012-07-20

In my review on the LC-Wide, I’m sharing some of my photos taken with this wide-angled wonder and what I like about it so much.

When the Lomo LC-Wide was released I knew I just had to have her. Few days later I made my wish come true.

As with all Lomography cameras, the LC-Wide is sent in a wonderful package. You cannot take your eyes off it. Also, a book with LC-Wide photos is included, that inspires you to instantely go out shooting.

After shooting the first film and holding the prints in my hands, I was overwhelmed. The images, the 17mm Minigon Lens can capture on film are breathtaking. I’m not even talking about the colors and vignetting. Especially the sharpness, the lens produced, suprised me. Almost too good for a Lomography camera and definitely sharper than the classic LC-A+, all in a pocket-size camera. In comparision to wide angle lenses for SLRs the whole camera is smaller than the LC-Wide.

Get close, and get closer! I was impressed by how closely you can approach your subject. You get a special look when using this advantage. I also like the half frame mode a lot, which I find a great opportunity to tell stories in images.

The LC-Wide is easy to use. First of all focusing, is super simple – though offering far more than a common point & shoot camera. Lomography provides a camera with a variety of possibilities to get creative. Using it without half frame mask, opening the lens cover not completely, inserting the half frame mask and shooting with a different setting, double or multiple exposures, half frame panoramas, etc. The possibilites are endless for this wide angle wonder.

Take care of your fingers. The wide-angle is so wide, your fingers might become visible in your images. The viewfinder isn’t very helpful either, only showing a part of your final result. Not really useful for composing your photo.

Lomography created a cool camera to experiment with. So many settings to test, but still easy to use!

The Lomo LC-Wide boasts the newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens. This 35mm camera wonder is the perfect companion for your photo expeditions. It produces eye-catching splashes of colour with astonishing saturation and contrasts with the added versatility of 3 different formats. Open up to a new photographic experience with the LC-Wide, available in our Shop.

Vicuna's Travel Stories | Burkina Faso: The Land of Upright People

When someone asks me why I love Burkina Faso so much and what's so special about it, I answer without any hesitation: the people. There's something in this country that connects the people together very strongly. Here, foreign visitors are warmly welcomed. And honestly, I think that the portraits I'm most proud of and that I really love are those shot in Burkina Faso. "Why," you ask?

How to Develop Photos on Stone in a Darkroom

I have always loved the idea of seeing my photos on stone and other natural materials. So, a few months ago, I began googling how it could be done. This is how I discovered (and fell in love with) liquid emulsion. Liquid emulsion is photographic emulsion which you can melt down and paint on any surface. You can then expose an image and develop it using traditional darkroom chemicals. In this article, I would like to explain the process a little, so that if you are also interested in giving this fun process a go, you can!

Long Exposures Around Europe with the Minitar-1 Art Lens

One of the things I like the most about the Minitar-1 Art lens is how sharp the focus can be when you shoot with a small aperture. So if you are one of those that like to shoot at night, get a tripod, add this to a late dark winter afternoon, and you will end up with a bunch of beautiful long exposures. This is what I did on my last trip to Europe.
