This week I’ve teamed up with BanksyUndercover to come up with an ingenious solution to a common problem with the La Sardina. Here’s a really quick and easy way to make your camera a bit unique — and stop the problem of those little studs falling out all the time!
While on holiday in Turkey recently, my boyfriend, Banksyundercover, lost one of the studs which normally sit on either side of his La Sardina lens. As it probably now resides at the bottom of a lake, or in the stomach of a turtle, we decided to come up with a replacement.
The result is great, and would work well as a unique and stylish way to customise your camera with a few basic ingredients — even if your studs are still attached!
I’ve used patterned (Yin Yang) Nose Studs to replace the silver one that was missing, and small earrings or similar studs would work just as well. If you want to replace your existing studs, they are easy to lever out if you do so carefully with a credit card or other flat edged object.
First, use pliers to trim the new studs to the same length as the originals so that they will fit snugly into the camera.
Next, I filled the empty hole with blu tack as the stud posts were much skinnier than the originals. After that it was simple to push the new studs into the blu tack and, just like that, you add a sleek twist to your Sardina
This is so simple to do and it looks great, although I’d definitely recommend using a tiny amount of glue to secure the stud if needed.
