My Borrowed Camera: Diana Mini

2012-07-16 2

So now that I jumped into the Lomography lake, I needed to get myself familiar with the boats and paddles. Not owning an analogue camera since the 90’s, I asked to borrow a camera from Lomography.

I got a camera! Lomography was kind enough to lend me a Diana Mini to help me get started on my analogue journey! The first thing that came to my mind the second I held the camera was,“Wow! This tiny thingymajig can take pictures?!” So they let me borrow the Diana Mini and gave me 3 rolls of films.

I haven’t started snapping at anything yet, because I’m soooo scared of wasting the film! I know most of you will say your first roll of film will probably suck, but I really hate to waste it for trial and error. So my mission is now to do some research and get some tips and tricks on my borrowed camera. I want at least ONE good picture (I know I know, depends on how you define good) that I can frame or set as a wallpaper on my smartphone. * smirk * This is possible right?

What should my first subjects be? Should I use the full format or the half-frame format? Geez, I have sooo many questions! I think I might have to ask around first before I actually start snapping around aimlessly.

Anyone have newbie advise on a Mini Diana for me?

My next post will be about how Kira (friend and co-worker) gives me advise on what to do and what not to do. Stay tuned!

The Diana Mini is the ultra-compact, petite version of the Diana F+. This camera takes soft-focused, lo-fi images in 35mm and allows you to change between half-format and square shots with a flick of a switch. Get your own Diana Mini now!
