Georgetown festival 2012 is here! The much anticipated project “Mirrors of George Town” – the wall painting by artist Ernest Zacharevic, which depicts portraits of various inhabitants of the city onto the walls of buildings and turns the city’s streets into a big free open air gallery. I’m looking forward to have a look on all the murals from Ernest Zacharevic along the street!
It consists of 6 to 12 large-scale wall painting, which placed within the core heritage zone of Georgetown. This has been featured in all local newspapers, and widely shared on Facebook. A lot of passer-by stop by took picture with the murals with creative pose.
Most of the Murals are strategically installed on the location which is full of city’s heritage and local culture, it help to promote its heritage and people will know more about the city when they go for the art trail.
I found Ernest during the Armenian Festival. I heard a lot of him and his artwork and this was the first time I saw him in real. Awesome!
Ernest Zacharevic, a young artist from Lithuanian who studied in London, came Penang in 2011 because he is attracted by Penang’s heritage and culture. He has completed a few large scale murals which full of the Penang local identity in the past.
Thanks to Ernest Zacharevic, he’s making the city become more vibrant and unique with these mural.
