This is the first ever event in Kuching, Sarawak, which wast held on one of the special days on the month of June. Basically it was a small analogue exhibition on ‘What Lomography is All About’.
Sarawak is a place like no other indeed. We have a special day during the month of June which is the 1st, known as the ‘Hari Gawai’. It is being celebrated by the ‘Dayak’, a collective name for the ethnic group in Sarawak, and also in Kalimantan Indonesia.
So, on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of June 2012, we were invited by Tun Jugah Mall Kuching to make an exhibition on analogue photography. The event was miraculously fun and full of excitement! Our community of practice in Kuching, as we addressed ourselves as the Analog Garage @ Lomohunter Kuching, took place in this event as the main contributor for the three days event. There are two main sponsors that gave their biggest contributions to the event, REGALO GIFT STORE and APOLLO DIGITAL PHOTO LAB. They have been supporting Lomography ever since it was introduced in Kuching.
The planning took us about one week plus to get the things ready, and design the best way to display the uniqueness of Lomography. Our group members had contributed roughly around 1,500 photos for the LANTEY. ‘Lantey’ means floor in Sarawak Language.
On the 1st day, we had the exhibition throughout the day, where people came to our booths and asked us about what is Lomography, analogue photography, the cameras, films and etc.
While on the 2nd day, we did a contest for the best picture taken with the LOMO LC-A+. The prizes were sponsored by REGALO GIFT STORE. The winner won an Ultra Wide Slim with some vouchers. Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up brought home vouchers and freebies.
Then on the 3rd day, a black and white workshop has been set-up to show the audience on how to develop your own black and white films. The workshop was handled by Wandy Saeit himself.
And here are some of the photos of the events. Enjoy!
