Classic Kitties in Film

Thought Catalog recently published “21 Pictures of Cats Being Awsome Way Before the Internet Existed” and the title speaks for itself. Before cats dominated YouTube and desired cheezburgers, lovely felines were the darlings of analogue cameras. Check out the vintage kitties here!

Who knew that before heaters, refrigerators, laptops, and iPads, cats liked to play on icy boats? Here’s a cat learning how to sail, a kitten on an ice ship (1902), and a cat cradled in a sailor’s arms (1940). Also, little critters in muzzles of guns aboard the HMS Hawkins (1919).

Forget milk and string. Cats of the past enjoyed two things: beer and jazz. (And Charles Lindbergh circa 1930s?)

Most of all, they loved getting their photographs taken!
