We all know the saying that “behind every great man is a woman”, and for birthday boy, Paul McCartney this certainly rang true with his first wife, famed photographer and animal rights activist Linda McCartney. Aside from starting a beautiful family together, collaborating artistically was also something that the famous couple enjoyed. While their blissful union was cut short because of an illness, they still remain known as one of music’s most famous couples. Here’s a peek at Paul McCartney through Linda’s lens.
Having already gained some fame for her work as a music photographer, then young Linda Eastman, went to London in the 1960s to take photographs and eventually ended up meeting The Beatles, and of course, Paul McCartney. She was already divorced from her first husband and had a daughter of her own, which was actually kind of a “turn on” for Paul who was keen on starting a family already but with a reluctant fiancee, he broke off their engagement and ended up with artsy Linda, and the rest, as they say is history.
Aside from being the wife of a Beatle, Linda was also successful in her own right having been a favorite photographer in the music industry ending up with 200,000 photographs throughout her career and was also known for her work as activist and a vegetarian having released cookbooks to encourage people to choose greens over meat.
Now let’s not forget Paul, this is his birthday week after all. If you’re a fan of The Beatles you might already know every possible tidbit about them so let us share with you some photos taken by Linda of Paul that we chanced upon.
