For my birthday my best friend and former room mate custom-made me magnets. For me, they doubled up as a housewarming gift that makes me feel nostalgic for analogue, and for some of my greatest memories, every time I grab myself something out of the fridge – which is often!
She’s shared just how she went about creating them and here’s the step-by-step so that you’ll be able to put a smile on a friend’s, or your own, face!
What you’ll need
- Photo paper
- Adhesive-backed magnet tape
- White cardboard
- Metal ruler
- Utility knife
- Packing tape
Download photo-frame template here (the 5×2 image as seen above) and once opened drop the photographs you desire to turn into magnets into the miniature frames.
Print template with photos positioned in them out onto photo-paper!
Stick your entire sheet of photographs onto the cardboard. You can stick clear packing tape over the tiny images like you’re laminating them as protection.
Cut each mini photo out with your utility knife and line with ruler for perfectly straight edges.
Get your magnet tape out and cut pieces from it, place the photo atop it and measure and cut to match. Affix them to the back of each instant-photo!
Now, all you need to do is lay them under some heavy household objects to flatten. Once they’re done, write some sweet, memorable messages on the white space at the bottom like my friend Lauren – see below!
With photos inserted into template
And here they are sitting pretty on my fridge!
