Urban Adventure at a Railway Station in Bangkok

Choo Choo train is coming, get ready to board, passengers! It’s a place where I went to when I was in Bangkok a few months back, as I decided to see what urban adventure I can have. So I thought of visiting Bangkok’s railway station.

The railway station is named Hua Lamphong Railway Station and is also known as the Bangkok Railway Station, located in the Pathum Wan District. It underwent six years of construction work before it opened on 25 June 1916, with an Italian Neo-Renaissance style, nicely decorated roofs made of wood, and stained glass windows.

Upon stepping into the entrance of the railway station, after a train ride (BTS), I knew I came to the right place to capture this urban adventure with my lomo cameras (Lomo LC-A and Lomo LC-Wide). It is so different from Singapore’s former railway station (KTM) as I got to see different groups of people in the station. There are monks, villagers, foreign workers, and locals walking around the station while waiting for their train. The feeling is amazing as I can sense the happiness for those going back to their hometown while sadness which can be seen from some faces.

Another thing worth mentioning is the cleaning and washing of the train! When I reached the railway station, staffs from the station were washing one of the trains with brushes, a water hose etc. I captured the moment with my lomo cameras.

I continued to walk around the station to explore the place. There is a kind of quiet atmosphere in the station like an exam hall when a exam is being held. It is so different from other places in Bangkok, which is congested with people, cars, roadside stalls etc. I can say that I enjoyed this visit to the Hua Lamphong Railway Station. I hope lomographers will visit this place too if they happen to be in Bangkok.

The Lomo LC-Wide boasts the newly-developed 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens. This 35mm camera wonder is the perfect companion for your photo expeditions. It produces eye-catching splashes of colour with astonishing saturation and contrasts with the added versatility of 3 different formats. Open up to a new photographic experience with the LC-Wide, available in our Shop.
