Remember when we wrote about photographic swimwear earlier this summer? We featured hot bikinis and maillots with cool graphic prints but nothing for men. Well, we just discovered photographer-turned-designer Adam Brown’s label of sophisticated swim trunks with rad retro prints for all the hommes out there! Washboard abs not included. ;-)
Photographer Adam Brown was lounging around the resort on a holiday when he realized that women looked great poolside while the men looked terrible. “We all had to change to go to lunch, and I thought that was so stupid.”
So in 2007, he addressed the lack of sophisticated men’s resortwear by coming up with his own brand, Orlebar Brown, which is now the quintessential label for tasteful and tailored men’s swimwear.
If you liked Swimming Photos, featuring women’s photographic swimwear, then you’ll like Orlebar Brown’s fifth anniversary collection. The British brand chose 12 vintage images by inspirational photographers like Slim Aarons and Dennis Halinan from the Getty Images archive which they will be releasing monthly throughout the year.
On top of being stylish, OB cares for the habitat its apparel are made for. 10% of proceeds from the shorts go to the Blue Marine Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to the preservation and protection of oceans and their wildlife.
OB is also hosting a photography competition about the “OB Way of Life.” Submit your beachy keen and pool cool photos (can be analogue or digital, although we know which one you’re likely to send, may be especially shot for the competition or a photograph from before) and get a chance to win £3000 to spend at OB and a seven night stay in Thailand! Time to flex those muscles! :-)
