If you’re like me, you have lost your Mini Diana’s lens cap somewhere on the road back – on a curbside, in the middle of a wood, on the back seat of a bus. The camera just isn’t the same without it. But I have recently found a very simple, low cost and tasty (yes tasty) way to replace it. Read on!
About a month ago, I lost my Diana Mini lens cap whilst on holiday in France. I hadn’t realized until I was home, and so it was impossible for me to get it back. Yesterday, however, I found a perfect replacement:
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A multi-pack of mini Yazoo milkshakes (usually around £1-2.)
- Diana Mini
Simply take the lid from one of the bottles (I would definitely recommend washing it, if you chose to drink it) and place it over the lens of your Diana Mini. It really is that easy! The lid fits tightly over the camera’s lens, much like the original cap does that came with it. They come in red, yellow or brown (strawberry, banana and chocolate flavours), but can be easily painted to suit the colour you chose. You could also try painting a design on it to personalize it.
I tried a few bottle lids (a milk carton, juice cartons etc) but this was the only one which fitted. I am unsure as to whether the regular sized Yazoo lids would fit, as they are slightly different in style. If you are curious, however, I measured the lid to be 4.2cm/1.65in in diameter, so most lids at this size should fit.
Enjoy your new lens cap!
