Sepugirl shoots with the Lomo LC-A+

For a vegetarian like Sepugirl, she can be picky on what stuff to eat. But when it comes to the Lomo LC-A+, there are no restrictions, she just shoots her heart out with it!

Love veggies? Then you must love our Amiga Sepugirl – who’s a picky eater – with an additional flair for Russian cameras! Read on to find out about our beloved vegetarian’s crazy wscapedes with the Lomo LC-A+!

How long have you been a Lomographer?
S: In 2002, I saw a strange camera with 4 lenses and my aunt bought it for me. Then I discovered Lomography and I realised that I had seen a strange Russian camera years before when I went to Munich (during the Oktoberfest) and I had fallen in love with that camera. When I realized it was the LOMO LC-A, I bought it immediately. I’m with ‘her’ since 3 years now.

Describe the LC-A+ in five words.
S: (My) Friend, Magical, Unpredictable, Loyal, Smart.

The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had.
S: Sometimes I find people in the street that recognize me from my photos. Once I was in the metro in Madrid and a guy came to me and said: Hello Alicia! And I freaked out, he knew my name and all the photos by memory. I have to say it was a bit scary…(not the guy, the situation)

If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be (song title & artist please).
S:

  • John Lennon – Oh Yoko
  • Add n to (x) – Brother charge
  • Kaka de luxe – La alegría de vivir

Digital or Analog? Why?
S: Analog!!! I like analog because it is not perfect, it has something ‘magic’ about it, and it is always different.

If you could be anywhere, doing anything, right now – where would it be and what would you do?
S: I would be travelling by car through the United states with a friend of mine, taking a bunch of photos, driving an old American car and meeting strange new people!

The absolute best restaurant in your town – something authentic, delicious, and not too pricey. Name & address please.
S: I love La Bascula in Street Flassaders 30 (behind the Picasso Museum). It’s a 90% vegetarian restaurant with awesome goat cheese sandwich and yummy chocolate handmade cakes.

Things about the LC-A+ that you love & adore.
S: How small and well designed it is and always has been. Its always there for everything. The new little clever lever on the bottom is brilliant. It’s also nice to easily be reminded of what film I’m using in there. In low light, after the 1st click of a long exposure, I love the fact that you don’t know how long you’re gonna have to hold your breath for before the second click.

Your advice to future LC-A+ Lomographers.
S: This little black beauty is pretty awesome. Its amazing how many different types of photos you can get back from it and at the same time they’ll still have this look that doesn’t come from any other camera. Cross process with slide film. Take more chances!!!

In Carly Zavala’s work, honesty comes in visual cues. It can be as simple as a woman looking straight into the camera, or as meaningful as a man deep in thought. It is loyalty to the facts of a scene. What little light is there she will finesse into a striking image.

Long Exposures Around Europe with the Minitar-1 Art Lens

One of the things I like the most about the Minitar-1 Art lens is how sharp the focus can be when you shoot with a small aperture. So if you are one of those that like to shoot at night, get a tripod, add this to a late dark winter afternoon, and you will end up with a bunch of beautiful long exposures. This is what I did on my last trip to Europe.
