For those in the Southern Hemisphere suffering from the ‘I miss summer’ syndrome. Don’t Fret. Beat the blues by making the most of the cooler climate and the amazing color scheme produced by Mother Nature and enjoy Autumn – The Best Season Ever.
Unlike half the world out there, I’m currently going through the beautiful season that is autumn. Every year, as the earth rotates and tilts away from the sun, the days become shorter and the temperature gets colder. During this seasonal change, something amazing happens. The cool green leaves on deciduous plants changes color and slowly turns to the vibrant warm tones that is red/orange/yellow.
The color of the leaves is the main reason why autumn is my favorite season. On a sunny day, the beautiful blue sky accentuates the aesthetic foliage and make them ‘POP’ against the blue background. I love the warm coloration and the leaves make for a great focal point for photos.
Because all trees are different, you might be lucky enough to find a mixture of deciduous trees in one spot where the leaves are in different colors and it creates a lovely cascade of tones. As the weather gets colder and colder, the leaves begin to shed (in order for the plants to conserve water and better survive winter). It covers the ground with a carpet of wilted leaves – creating yet another beautiful scene, waiting to be captured on film.
I love how Mother Nature works and what better way to admire this beautiful seasonal change than capturing the gorgeous scenery via analogue photography? So for those of you in the Southern hemisphere, make the most of autumn, head outside and start shooting. :)
