Cannes Film Festival 2012 Photo Diary (Part 1)

Lomography has awesome access to all the affairs at the 65th Cannes Film Festival thanks to our partnership with MUBI. We’re excited to bring you the latest happenings as the biggest film event of the year continues and we’re glad to share the first batch of analogue photos! Check out the gallery here.

We’re armed like the Cannes papparazzi with our arsenal of analogue cameras (we brought the Lomo LC-A+, La Sardina, and Diana Mini!) and ready to shoot all the events and celebs at the scenic French town for the 65th Cannes Film Festival, happening May 16 – 27, 2012. We’ve gotten some rolls back from the lab so here they are for your perusal and enjoyment!

The Lomography + MUBI Booth

What can we say, a film festival is a great place to work. Even more so since this is Cannes, the biggest annual cinematic celebration! We’ve set-up a satellite office in collaboration with MUBI so feel free to drop by the Lomography booth and see the limited LomoKino MUBI Edition, signed by filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, for yourself!

Apichatpong Weerasethakul Press Breakfast and Screening

We mean business at Cannes so our days start early, such as the day we had a press breakfast for Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul before his film’s screening. During the talk, he shared his inspiring moviemaking tips to aspiring LomoKino directors. The most profound? “Don’t fall in love.” Read more at Cannes 2012: Tips from LomoKino Filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

MUBI Party @ Cannes Cinema Club

So, it’s time to party, right? :-) After a long day of watching films (phew!) and work, we celebrated our second year of teaming up with film institution MUBI with a little shindig at the Cannes Cinema Club. Beer and celebrities, all around!
