Each summer, there is a massive festival in Glasgow’s West End. We celebrate music, dance, art and singing. There’s always something exciting to see. Last year, I only managed to catch the main parade. This year, I will be going to more events. The city floods with artists wanting to showcase their respective talents.
This year, the festival starts on the first of June and runs for just over three weeks. Expect to see substantial amounts of music and dance.
My favorite part of the celebrations are the enormous parade that runs through Kelvingrove Park.
Many people take part in the procession that runs through the park and out onto Kelvin Way. Local school, local dance clubs, professional institutions. It acts as both a celebration and advertisement (something we Lomographers will appreciate). The festivities are enjoyed by everyone, both young and old.
It’s also worth adding that a lot of the people coming to the festival are just as interesting as the people taking part in it. Good people watching and excellent subjects for a photographer!
You have three weeks to get your films finished and cameras ready to go shooting at Glasgow’s West End Festival. For more information as it becomes available, please check out the festival's website.
