No need to despair! Even though some of the most deeply-rooted mental images and cultural codes are hard to re-program, there are some routines you can shake up really easily. Some people like to call it “inspiration”. Just follow these easy steps and you’ll be golden.
1. Select your top 5 favorite images in this book.
2. Put each finger of your right hand on one of the pages where your selected images are situated.
3. Flick through the book with your left hand and look at each picture for several seconds. Try to remember these images as best you can. Repeat the exercise five times.
Before going to sleep at night think about the images once again. The next day when you wake up you’ll have these images stored as mental images inside your head. Without consciously thinking about it, these images will now influence what you see and what you shoot. Check your next roll of film to see if you produced similar pictures to the ones you just programmed into your head.
