Hongdae, Seoul: a highly-recommended place to you all especially to those who love art and designs.

Hongdae is the place you must visit in Seoul if you like design, art, and handicraft. There’s a weekly market called Free Market (not flea market). The Free Market (Saturday) and Hope Market (Sunday) are open from 1pm to 7pm. The free market is held at a playground that is close to the Hongik University every weekend. It is a market selling handmade items by students and recent graduates. Handmade accessories, clothes, mobile phone cases and so on can be found here. This free market has been well known throughout all of South Korea as a primary and necessary place for Korean artists.

I found a great “underground” store when I walked along the alleys of Hongdae. Sorry that I can’t recall the name of this store anymore. The photography corner attracted me. Great photo books are selling here and I wished I was able to stay longer to read those books. Of course, I found our lovely Lomography cameras and vintage cameras being sold there as well.
